The room was clean and quiet with simple decorations. We would't say it excellent but good enough for a short stay. The location is pretty close to the train station and within walking distance to famous historical spots. Staff was good but we would't say it as warm hearted.

I went to florence for a short break looking for inspiration the previous night I stayed at the nearby hostel which I was very pleased with, its no hostel its much better than I expected. The Tourist house Liberty is off a busy street near a small park its not easy to distinguish beacause its part of three separate hotels all with the same large door entrance Liberty is located on the 1st floor landing, I was meet by a very pleasent lady who accepted my rucksack and gave me a key, it was only 9am and you check in at 1pm. When I returned later the room no 10 was clean and comfortable the only downside to it was the small bathroom but overall its good value for money and a short walk to the main city centre. Top tip try the deli opposite on the same street the foods fresh and the italians are welcoming.

I need to warn people that the pictures are pretty accurate, but the rooms are not as bright. They are dim and dusty! The hotel was a bargain, but that doesn't excuse a dirty room. Furthermore, beds are old and springs are pushing through the cushions. Had a very bad night's sleep. I'm glad I only stayed there one night. The private bathrooms are down the hall, and be warned: the toilet is in the same space as the shower. Very unsanitary, but I hear some places in Europe are like this. This Bed and Breakfast did not have a dining area to have breakfast. When I asked the staff about breakfast, they said I had to go back to my room and it would be delivered. I did not wait around to eat in my filthy room. Directions to the hotel are wrong, so google it before you get there. It is very close to the train station. Very convenient to some local attractions like the Duomo.

This hotel is super super cheap... but the price reflects what you get! We had a hugely spacious room but the bed was horribly uncomfortable. Our private bathroom down the hall had 8 air fresheners to try to disquise the mildew smell, but the smell was still very strong. The staff did not make our bed or give us fresh towels like other hotels did. The breakfast was delivered to our room but was pretty lame, packaged toast, cookies and cakes... but it was something I guess. The staff did not speak a lot of english, but we got by okay. The street noise was totally blocked out by the windows, but on one night there was noise from our neighbor's room... but not unbearable. Super cheap room about 10 minutes from the Duomo.

First time to Florence. We liked:
- the situation of the B&B (near Duomo and Central Market)
- welcoming (good addresses for restaurants and shopping)
- the possibility of having a garage for the car near the B&B
- the ratio price / quality
A good address to come back!

Good-Size of room, window onto street, location
Bad-The bed was very uncomfortable, it sagged
Strange-The shower is small and the toilet and bidet is in the shower. Not bad once you get over the shock. And the breakfast was at a local busy bar.
Hint for using breakfast coupon-Give the coupon to the pay counter first, then claim your pastry and coffee at the other counter.

There were no soap nor shower gel in the bathroom. We had to ask for the toilet paper every time we finish a roll. Towells and bed linen had to be changed after 3 days, according to the B&B indications, but they didn't do until we ask for it (only after the fourth day). Air conditioning was out of order, so we had to leave the windows open all the time. This implied a disaster during the nights because there were a lot of mosquitoes.
Despite all of these awfulls and unpleasant things, I would emphasize the cool disposition of the reception staff. Breakfast was included in the price.

My rating is not about the Tourist House Liberty, but the Hotel Genesu, which is one floor above. I was taken by the Liberty staff to there upon my arrival. Apparently it was pre-arranged between them for me to stay there. I was unprepared, but it worked out all right. I really like their service. It was comfortable and quiet. I would use Genesu again.

It was the worst accomodation I have ever stayed at. We have been moved to a seperate apartament few streets away. I was absolutely shocked what i saw. Discusting! Smelled of urinage and canals.Everything old and broken. Noone even told us where the breakfast would be as we were moved out of the main B&B house. Never again!

We walked to the hotel from the railway station no problem. We got a free upgrade to an apartment just 2 minutes round the corner, so nice and spacious and excellent location, florence is a small city and easily crossed on foot and we felt safe walking about at night. the apartment was abit old fashioned.

Good experience overall.
The best part was the staff - they were very accommodating and kind. For example, I hurt my foot one day, and Mare was very kind, tended to and dressed my foot without question, and continued to check on me until the foot seemed to be in better condition! Another person helped me translate into English what a person was saying when my phone card was not working and offered to let me use the office phone (there aren't any phones in the rooms). Sorry, I did not catch his name, but thank you anyhow to all of the staff.
The only quirky detail was that we were given a room where there was a separate bathroom - this didn't seem that strange until we discovered that the toilet and bidet were in the shower! So, when one decided to take a shower, one could not help but to make the toilet wet. This room also had very little ventilation. The last day however, we were moved to another room because there was to be some work done in the current room. The room to which they moved us was much better. There was an attached bathroom and it was 'normal' with a window.
I would recommend this place to anyone who is content with a clean and basic place to stay in a safe and convenient area.

We stayed here our last night in Italy, with a 10 minute walk to the bus station the next morning to get to the airport. The room was great, loved the antique furniture. The staff were friendly and helpful, recommended a great restaurant for supper (Trattoria Za Za).

this review is for a 2007 March 18-20 stay in the low season. we booked a shared bath double room for just $49 and were given one with private bath (free upgrade due to low season esp a Monday in Florence).
Staff speaks adequate English and are nice to provide luggage storage for several hours on out checkout date. Did accept credit card as payment.
Clean and tidy room. Furniture a bit old and some has prior damage, but does not affect the function of a hotel room and does not cause inconvenience to us. there is a safe built in inside the wall too. Minor inconvenience is the decorative "outside" wooden window keeps slamming back and forth and making noise at night but the "inside" one was locked so tightly that we can't open it to close the outside one to keep it from moving. Room was spacious (we got the room with the blue bedding, I believe it's room #4). The double bed, like all others in Italy we've seen, was made of two single beds put together side-by-side, which was fine for our standards.
We also visited their shared bath once and was clean. The baths are standing showers.
Since it's a hotel, not a Bed & Breakfast, no breakfast is included.
The building is easy to find, but the first street to take from the SMN train station is hard to find. Better get a free APT map from the real tourist Info center OUTSIDE of the train station and ask for orientation. it's about 12-15 minutes walk with carry-on luggage from SMN train station, and about 8-10 min without luggage. But if your train arrives/departs at Campo Di station (Artesia train), it's 35-45 minute's walk away! The elevator in the building is NOT for use with Tourist House Liberty, but it's only 1 to 1.5 flight of stairs up. Convenience store/mini supermarket right downstairs and around corner. 5 minute walk to Accademia if you know the way. Duomo and other galleries are within walking distance.
One window in the room overlooks nice inner garden, the other overlooks an unattended area common to

It's confortable and aboveall convenient. It's really near to the centre: you can move on foot. It's clean and spartan.
The only thing not very good was the breakfast because it's all wrapped. But if you want a good italian coffee, you can request it!!!
Infact, the personnel were really kind.

We found the place after some difficulty with directions, having walked from the station. While generally clean and large, the room was very spartan and had all the character of a hostel. Mostly a young crowd but pretty quite and the free internet access was convenient. I would probably not go back in a hurry if given the choice but for a single night stay it met our needs for basic accomodation.

Roberto and his collegues were both friendly and helpful. Internet access was a definite plus to staying here. The hotel was not a far walk from the sites and conveniently close to the main train station. Common areas and rooms had nice old furniture. The single room was a bit cramped, but if you are in Florence, you should only really be sleeping there ;).

Lovely accommodation, great location in Florence. Parking a nightmare but garage nearby. I was a little surprised that breakfast was not available considering it was a B&B but there is a lovely little cafe right outside. The owners were really helpful with all the tourist information and very friendly. We would definately stay here again.

I think this house is a great location for staying if you want sightseeing in Florence because you only have to walk 5 minutes to the dome. The staff is very nice anhd helpful, if you have a problem you can always ask for advice. The only thing that was a little bit confusing was that tzhe house is called "bed and breakfast", so I thougt that the price is including breakfast but you have to pay 5 € extra. But it isn't a problem because there are lots of cafés in Florence where you can have a cheap cappucino or coffee and something to eat. All in all I would recommend the touristhouse Liberty.

The room was extremely small with very little room to even unpack. Other rooms were very close and was unfortunately able to hear most of their noise. Although the hotel was not to blame, it would have been nice to be alerted that there was much construction on the streets surrounding the hotel.
On the good side, the hotel was clean in a decent location. I would not recommend this hotel to a friend or stay here again.

I would highly reccommend The Tourist House Liberty. It was great value for money, spotlessly clean & nice & quiet (our room overlooked the garden). The only slight reservation I would have is that is quite a long way from the centre of Florence.
