I would recommend this hotel b and b to anyone travelling to florence. The building is situated just a few minutes walk from the Duomo. The rooms are bright and clean and the king size beds are fantastic. The bathroom was well equiped complete with shower and bath.Breakfast was served on the terrace which added an extra luxury to the start of the day. If travelling to Florence again we would not hesitate to stay again. Service was of a high standard with a warm welcome

When I read the reviews, I knew this was the place for us my husband and I to stay. We requested a room on an inside courtyard and that is what we got. Even though it was probably the smallest room, it was an adequate size. The computer in the room was very useful. The plasma TV was a decent size, plus there was video and sterio equipment and a video library. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, the room totally quiet and it is in an excellent location--only 2 blocks from the cathedral! The suggestions that were given to us for dinners were outstanding. We highly recommend the Accadamia Restaurant and order the pre-fix dinner. The only drawback was that they were waiting for a part to fix the hot tub and it wasn't operational the entire time we were there. We could have used it too, after climbing to the top of the dome. We would definately stay there again and highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Florence.

this is the most wonderful place to stay...a real treasure and exceptional value for money. Claudio was very welcoming, the rooms were truly beautiful and the bathrooms clean and well- supplied with good quality soap, shampoo, lotion etc. The breakfast was lovely and a good variety and the breakfast area was very nicely appointed. the B&B is so close to the Duomo and so convenient for all the tourism you need. we loved this place, we would go back again, we highly recommend them

This is not just a B&B. The rooms were easily as good as any five star hotel. Very spacious, in-room computer with broadband internet access, free wi-fi, large flatscreen TV, DVD player with free DVD loan. Facilities included a sauna and jaccuzzi. It is conveniently located and very close to the Duomo. We would definitely recommend the 'Tourist House Ghiberti' as the best place to stay in Florence.

We loved the location. We were lucky enough to get the room that overlooks the courtyard, which made for a very quiet and peaceful stay. Having a PC and Internet in our room was also great for us. Claudio was very friendly and helpful. We would stay there again. Fantastic coffee shop in the street right beside the B&B.

Location is brilliant just around the corner from the Duomo. Add that to the ancient feel of the building itself, and you experience a real sense of being in the heart of a vibrant and historic city. Fortunately nothing ancient inside. The facilities are right up to date and give the rooms a more contemporary feel than the exterior suggests. The owners are helpful yet unobtrusive. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

We were impressed! Just a block from the noisy, bustling central Florence/Duomo area is this small, quiet, modern, wonderful oasis. Claudio & Christelle have thought of just about everything to make their guests' stay a pleasureable one. Wide screen HD tv, bedside speakers, headphones, flexible wall mounted reading lights, DVD player with many movies, in-room internet computer, large foam bed, nice artwork, comfortable breakfast room & courtyard, wall safe, extensive reading library, etc. etc. etc. They gave us helpful city information, arranged for advance Ufizzi tickets, took care of our laundry services and in their quiet way, were there to help whenever needed. We saved a fair amount of money over the outrageously expensive Florence hotels, but felt we got everything, probably more than, the higher priced places offered. This place gets our highest rating and we will return for sure!

Best place we have ever stayed in. Good and really quiet room with smart details as bedlamps(fiberoptic), loudspeakers beside bed, flatscreen tv, computer and dvd, very conveniant location. Nice staff, good breakfast. To bad that we forgot to bring swimsuits. It would have been nice to take a bath or go to the sauna after a whole day´s walking in the city. I think almost everyone could stay at Ghibertis. In some of the rewiews we have read that it was difficult to find but we don´t agree. If you have the adress it´s easy to find. If I ever will come back to Florence, I hope there will be o room at Tourist House Ghiberti for me.

After staying at four different hotels in Italy, this was the best in terms of personalized service, room ammenities, and quality of breakfast... especially for a small place. Some people criticize the price of the hotel (along with most others I've read reviews on), but the truth is everyone is expensive in Italy compared to the US. That's why I do give them a 10 for quality vs. price. It's also great that Claudio speaks great English. We had to move to another hotel because of starting a tour, but wished we could have stayed here the entire trip. You'll definitely enjoy your stay at the Tourist House Ghiberti!

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Claudios' place -Tourist house Ghiberti! A very calm, comforting place to be in,was far above our expectation adn standard. We always choose and love staying in B&B's. With Claudio it was such a different, wonderful experience. Very rarely one comes across such as this. Probably our third encounter of such a wonderful place and person. Claudio's welcome, services - you not only have a beautifully ventialted, aired room filled with sunshine but also free acess to the internet and DVD's -who has heard of this and channels variety inclusive of many many in English especially when hotels so often charge you "to pay and view"! And then there is sauna and what not! Nowhere a speck of dirt! Claudio is a very gentle and caring person himself. He is such a gentleman, came to see us off too till the door when it was busy breakfast time. Only Claudio would do this. Each aspect of the stay has been well above our expectations. The best feel of the B&B began with him coming down the stairs swiftly to welcome us,gave a quick tour of the place and room, we had internet -free -have anyone heard of that? Then a quick about what we as travelers need to be aware of. Saw off always with a good wish. Claudio is not effusive but still makes all feel at home. Our suitcase wheel had come away as many fellow travelers had warned in the web of the result of Venice cobble stones. Claudio fixed this for us depsite having his hands full. We thanked Claudio, all through our travel to Rome,Genoa,Florence and back to Aix en Provence. Breakfast - a huge mug of extremely made coffee made by Claudio was such a personal touch. The breakfast spread was great and so filling. Soft music added to this beautiful flavor. The camraderie that Claudio shared with us was so infective that we guests too were extending to reach out to do something to the other. The place was extremely clean, very well maintained and well provided for. O

I plan on staying here anytime I am in Florence. Claudio and Christelle are wonderful people and operate an incredible bed and breakfast. When we needed last minute museum reservations, Claudio was able to get us in that day. And the rooms were great. Although European in size, the amenities rivaled all other hotels on our trip. All would not be disappointed with a stay at the Tourist House Ghiberti!

This was a fantastic find for us in Florence. We spent three weeks in Italy and this was one of the nicest places to stay. Driving and finding things around Florence is generally difficult, so it was a bit hard to find, but we did and were thrilled with the room. The room was very large and, unlike most other hotesl in Italy, a double room meant one large bed - not two twins pushed together that you fall between as you sleep. In addition, the hotel provided a computer with Internet access in the room, which was extremely convenient. The staff was friendly and helpful and the property also had a "library" of tour books and Florences guides in various language available to guests. They also had a fairly large library of DVDs that you could borrow free of charge if you wanted a quiet night in your room. Finally, the location was hard to beat - you could walk to the Duomo in less than five minutes and it was central to everything. Overall, a great hotel and the only hotel I'd choose in Florence!!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay. Claudio and Cristelle were very welcoming. Rooms are spacious, quiet and very comfortable. We really liked all the amenities: flat screen tv, dvd's avail, computer access, keyless entry, sauna, jacuzzi. Breakfast buffet was great: cereal, juices, coffee, tea, yogurt, fruits, pastries, meats and cheeses. All the little details made our stay in Florence so comfortable and we highly recommend Tourist House Ghiberti.

This place is four star. It is more like a hotel than a B^B. It was the nicest accommodations of our vacation. The room was spacious, well decorated with TV, internet, and fax machine, the bathroom was large and there were ammenities such as shampoo, body wash, body cream, shoe shine kits, etc. Claudio and his staff were warm and friendly and very helpful recommending restaurants. Breakfast buffet was huge and we had the opportunity to dine on the plant filled terrace. All in all, a delightful experience.

The location is ideal--literally right around the corner from the Duomo, but not on a heavily-tourist-travelled street. There's an elevator to take you up the one floor from ground level. Once inside, Claudio and Christelle (and their beautiful little boy) appear to have thought about everything to make your stay comfortable. Examples: computer with Internet access in the room; a jacuzzi (and sauna) to relax your tired feet after long days of walking through Florence; a lovely breakfast each morning (with fruit, juices, pastries, cereals, meats, cheeses, and coffee) out on the patio (or inside); and a DVD player in the room with a nice collection of DVDs to borrow. Claudio and Christelle were extremely helpful in getting us reservations at all of the major museums, as well as making dinner reservations and calling us a taxi. The automatic lights in the room and in the bathroom take a little bit of getting used to. All in all, our staying at Tourist House Ghiberti very much contributed to our enjoyment of all that Florence has to offer, and we would definitely return here when we return to Florence (someday--sigh...).

Claudio was very helpful when needed, but not overly talkative otherwise, which is a bonus to me! The amenties were outstanding! Large, flat screen TV on the wall, with speakers mounted into the bed headboard, ac, nice sized bathroom, free internet with thin client computer & wifi in the room, self-serve bar, thick door and window....great! Our room was very quiet and the breakfasts were well laid out. Wonderful!

Great location, just a few blocks from Duomo. Our room was superb with excellent facilities (incl. the nicest en suite you'll get anywhere, wall-mounted TV with speakers next to bed, DVD player with free (?) movies from the desk, PC w/ free interenet connection, wall safe for valuables,). Lovely breakfast with fresh coffee, cakes, meats etc. Only complaints: Entrance to place a bit smelly and would have liked a duvee to make bed a bit cosier. Other than that THEE best value for your money. No detail was spared on this place (just check their website).

Great value! Staff was very helpful. Rooms nicely appointed with Internet Terminal and flat panel satellite TV... WIFI also available. Nice touches everywhere (towel heaters, reading lights, headphones, safe.) Double windows to keep out road noise... worked surprisingly well and we slept well. Owner takes pride in continuing to improve the facilities and rooms. Everything very clean. Ideal location to visit most major attractions. ~20 Euro taxi to airport, 10 minute walk to SMN station, 30 minutes to alternate station. Stayed three nights and liked it so much we booked the next saturday.

The location one block from the Duomo is very convenient for the tourist. Finding the entrance could be difficult because the only sign for the hotel is on the doorbell, but we found it with no problems because it is right beside the hospital. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, comfortable, and roomy. It is a great deal comparing the price of the room with the location and ammenities of the hotel.

We are very happy to recommend Tourist House Ghiberti and indeed have already done so to friends. This was our first trip to Florence (and Italy) and it would have been difficult to have chosen a better introduction. It is in an ideal location, just around the corner from the Duomo, and is walkable from the station. We found it without difficulty but you do need to look out for the small sign on the wall. The room was of a high standard and just as described on the website. Extremely well equipped and comfortable. It is the first time I have stayed in a B&B with a flat screen tv, DVD and satellite, pc with internet access, hidden safe and telephone/fax! The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom very modern. We used the spa bath (very relaxing) but unfortunately didn't fit in a sauna, so don't forget your swimsuit! Breakfast was very good. The owner is very attentive and speaks excellent English. It is on the first floor but there is a small lift. When we return to Florence this will be our first choice to stay.

It's a very challenging place to find. It took us numerous trips up and down the street to finally find it. Considering we were carrying heavy luggage, it was not fun. We so enjoyed our stay @ B&B Ghiberti & highly recommend it! The location was the best, although very hard to get to due to Florence's one way streets and the location of the street signs. We used a GPS system, but that failed due to the dense buildings. Still had to use a map, which doesn't indicate one ways. However, once we were there, the B&B called the garage to come pick up our car & deliver it the following day. Diane, our hostess, made all the requested museum arrangements, as well as dinner reservations. She also had great recommendations for nearby restaurants. This is my 8th trip to Florence, and never have I been so conveniently located, for so little $ and received so much. If you don't care about a hotel lobby, then this is for you! Diane made the best cappucino and chocolate cake for breakfast. Our only regret was that there aren't more of these B&B's in other cities! Last, but not least, my husband who is an electronic geek, was ecstatic at the wireless internet, the fax, the DVD, and plasma TV in the room w/built-in speakers. The room & bathroom were generous in size & the elevator worked! The covered terrace for breakfast was wonderful! We will stay here when we return to Florence--no ifs ands or buts!

So glad I gave up looking at hotels, and found this gem amongst the guest hous listings. The Ghiberti is luxurious as any hotel, with it's Jacuzzi, Sauna and Internet Access in every room. It is centrally located close to the Duomo, but very quiet. Our room was very clean and spacious, and we appreciated that there was a very well priced minibar that we used (unlike most hotels that overcharge, and then customers do not use!) We found a good restaurant close by on Via F.Portinari called Zio Gigi- try their 'House Gnocchi'- lovely. Yes, the Ghiberti is excellent- STAY HERE.

Can't fault this place. We had a lovely stay here. Everything was as we'd hoped and better. Very friendly helpful people. Breakfasts were very good and varied. Jacuzzi was a treat. Great central location for all the sights. Rooms are sound-proofed and very quiet. If I return to Florence I will definatly stay here again!

By far the best place we stayed while touring Italy. Even better than the 5 star hotel we stayed at in Venice (Hotel Bauer).

I cannot say enough good things about Tourist House Ghiberti. It was above and beyond my expectations. Claudio and Christella were very welcoming and helpful. Christella was very thorough when showing the room and made sure we knew how to work everything from the TV to the lights in the bathroom. The place was immaculately clean and very modern and trendy with all of the awesome artwork that it was decorated with. Claudio was extremely helpful in helping us with arrangements for the train and in finding a room for my friends that were with us. I was so impressed that this place was EXACTLY as described in all the reviews I read and the pictures, everything was just as it appears. The location was absolutely great, just minutes away from the Duomo. The room was extremely quiet as we had a soundproof window that kept all of the noise out even being across the street from a hospital!!! It was nice to come and go as we pleased. The breakfast was very nice and a lovely setup. The deck was beautiful and pleasant and really, I would recommend this place to absolutely anyone that will be visiting Florence. I would definitely stay here again and again and it is completely worth the price. My friend and I LITERALLY tried our hardest to stay an extra day because we loved it so much and it really added to the pleasantness of our trip. I give Tourist House Ghiberti my HIGHEST recommendation- you won't regret it! Thank you Venere.com.

This place is AMAZING! Never, in all my travels have I seen a bathroom so clean. The breakfast was the best of the 5 places we stayed during our trip. There is a computer in the room, so we could stay connected with our family in Canada. The room can be a little loud if the bathroom door is open, but if closed, the bedroom is quite soundproof. Claudio was very helpful in finding a great place for dinner (The Yellow Bar) and gave excellent directions on getting out of the city. These people are innkeepers at their best! My only suggestion is that you become very aware of where you need to go BEFOREHAND, especially if you are arriving at night. We arrived in Firenze as it was getting dark and had trouble seeing, or even locating the street signs (some are covered by trees). As a result, we drove around for a long time trying to find the place. The sign on the building can only be read when you are standing in front of it, so you should really be looking for the hospital driveway instead, as the Tourist House is directly across the street. One more tip: Don't drive around town too much before checking in, as Claudio needs to report the license plate of your car to the authorities. There are cameras all around town that record the plates, and if he doesn't call to register it, there can be a fine. We were concerned because we drove around a little lost for a while, but it all worked out in the end. Just remember what time you entered the city, so Claudio can report accurately. Overall, we love this place and will definitely be back if we are able to make it to Firenze again. (I sure hope so!)

Claudio, the proprietor, could not have been more helpful. I was extremely pleased with the location (one block from the Duomo), the breakfast was wonderful, the rooms were spotless. We travelled with another couple who tend to be very critical and they had no complaints !!! I would have thought that for what we recived in terms of service and location that we would have had to pay alot more. Further, the beds were EXTREMELY comfortable !! I wanted to take them home with me ! Thanks Caludio for making my stay the best !!!

A really great place. Very modern and spacious. Very clean and an interesting setting. The breakfast was very good considering only five rooms. Good location, very quiet. The most spacious and comfortable bathroom we saw in Italy. Wished we had brought our bathing suits for the jacuzzi. Best stay of our 13 day trip in Italy.

Claudio and Christelle were extremely helpful, including making advance reservations at museums for us. The room was surprisingly quiet right in the heart of Florence, and everything was as good or better than expected.

We stayed at Tourist House Ghiberti from 3/19/04 to 3/27/04. We could not be more pleased with the accomodations and excellent service of Claudio and Christelle, the owners. The room was lovely and every detail had been thought of to make our stay so much more enjoyable. The entire place is immaculately clean and well cared for. The breakfast was wonderful and kept us in energy for walking all morning until our late lunch around 2:00pm. everyday. The location of the tourist house is perfect for exploring all the major sights of Florence - which are numerous. We especially enjoyed the hot tub and sauna and the free internet in the room was a big plus to keep us connected to family and to allow us to keep a daily diary to send back to our children. The shower was a little tight and in the future we will request a room with a bath/shower combination but that did not detract from our enjoyable vacation. We have already recommended this place to a co-worker and will continue to recommend it to anyone who visits Florence. ALAN and PAULA BUTE.

IMMACULATE is the only way to describe this B&B. The location is great, the rooms are meticulously clean, and the hardworking couple who owns this establishment are extremely accomodating. My wife and I stayed here for 5 days on our honeymoon in mid-January, and we thought this was absolutely the best place we stayed (among our travel through Paris, Amalfi Coast, Rome and Florence). We wouldn't look anywhere else to stay in Florence, and can't wait to stay here again. If only all places were like the House of Ghiberti.....

We enjoyed our stay completely. It is a little hard to find the first time and there is no place to park a car or taxi in front of the building which makes loading or unloading a little frenetic. Nonetheless, the room was great, breakfast was more than enough and the owners are delightful.

We stayed at the Tourist House Ghiberti last October. Great place, Great facilities. A highlight for us was the complementary Internet access. We were thrilled to be able to connect with friends and family as well as book tours on line. Very modern! The location was excellent. Florence is a very walkable city and the THG is strategically located. We would definitely stay here again. The only downside was the location (accross from the hospital's emergency entrance). Our room was soundproofed so it was not a big issue for sleeping, however the bathroom was not. Could be a nuisance if you wanted a quiet bath in your room.

A very comfortable guesthouse with welcoming, attentive, and English-speaking proprietors. Our room was very comfortably and elegantly furnished. The free internet access with the ability to print documents was very helpful. Excellent breakfast. Absence of an elevator could be a problem for some. In high season, parking could be a problem. Overall - top marks.

The Tourist House Ghiberti was awesome! It is located right behind the Domo in Florence, therefore it is located very centrally. A short walk brings you to many major attractions in the city, and there are many nice resturants close by. The rooms are large by most European standards, and the in-room high-speed internet access was very convenient and great to have! The breakfast was very good, and the staff was very polite and helpful. The only thing about this place is that the rooms can be loud... not loud enough to make anything unpleasant, but the walls seem to be "thin".

Tourist House Ghiberti is slightly more expensive than other B&Bs in Florence but is definitely worth it. The facilities provided are excellent - clean, spacious room, nice bathroom, safe deposit box, free internet access in each room, jacuzzi, sauna etc - and the location, barely a minute's walk from Il Duomo, make it a great place to stay. I would recommend it to anybody.

I stayed in Tourist House Ghiberti (THG)for 2 nights - Sept 21st and 22nd. I stayed in Rome beforehand and Venice afterwards in hotels. The THG was by far the nicest place I stayed in on my vacation in Italy. Firstly - the location was excellent, just a minutes walk from Il Duomo. From the moment I booked the room in August - THG were extremely friendly, sending me emails confirming dates and requirements, providing extra details to get to their B+B. They even booked ahead for the Ufizzi museum allowing us to avoid the queues into the museum. When we did arrive, the B+B is truly excellent, the cleanliness, the generous breakfast, the rooms, and all the extras - each room has dedicated free internet access and a fax machine! Theres a sauna and jacuzzi also available for the guests and they came in most useful after a days sightseeing around beautiful Florence. Overall - it is easily one of the besy places I've stayed in, and would not hesitate to recommend the Tourist House Ghiberti to anyone who wants a nice relaxing time in Florence.

Never before have I been so pleasantly surprised by the outstanding hospitality and excellent service of House Ghiberti. The place far surpasses some of the best hotels in Europe with it's attention to detail, personal service and all round atmosphere of homeliness. It is the ONLY place to stay in Firenze. What a pity they cannot be repeated in other cities - would book there again and again. A true gem.

My husband and I researched this B&B the least and upon our arrival we were more than pleasantly surprised. Claudio and his wife maintained one of the nicest B&B's that we have ever visited. The rooms, location and cleanliness could not be beat! We especially appreciated access to the internet available in our room. Claudio was extremely helpful, (as well as always available), in offering suggestions on what to do and where to eat. One of the best perks was when we went for our morning run and noticed the fresh breads delivered to Claudio's doorstep......couldn't wait to get back for breakfast!! The only regret that we have is that we were unable to stay longer! We would DEFINITELY recommend this B&B to others....and hopefully return one day ourselves!!

In baseball terms, this is a homerun. My wife and I could not have been happier with our stay. The location is great, the owners, Claudio and Christelle are totally accomodating, - answering any question, and helping with reservations, etc. The guest house is on the second floor of a loft type building, so you are a little apprehesive when you enter the building, but once you get up and into the guest house, the rooms are new as are the beautiful bathrooms. A/C during the heatwave was a godsend, internet in the room was a great convience. We did not use the sauna or jacuzzi, but they were there and clean. If this is available, definitely stay here. We certainly would again.

The location of the Tourist House Ghiberti is excellent. The busy street did not create any room noise at night and the breakfasts were excellent. The staff helped us find good places to eat and helped arrange transport to and from the rail station. We loved the historical background of the building and made friends easily. Each room had fast web access for no charge. The air condintining was very welcomed and so were the large bathrooms. When in Florence we will return.

The Tourist House Ghiberti is definitely one of the best finds in Florence! Centrally located, beautifully decorated and staff which makes you feel comfortable and at home. Claudio offered excellent restaurant recommendations and provided us with specific direction to just about anywhere we wanted to go. Breakfast which is included, consisted of a nice assortment of breads, croissants, cakes, prosciutto, cheese, fruits and other delectable treats. We would not hesitate to recommend The Tourist House Ghiberti to our friends who need an nice place to stay in Florence. We know they would be completely satisfied. Our next trip to Florence is already planned and we will be returning for another stay with Claudio & Cristelle. Thanks for everything! Christina & Dominic Burkart

Lovely place to stay -- exceeded expectations! Room was large and bright. Place was exceptionally clean. Bathroom was very modern. Reasonably priced for the location and the quality of the accommodations. Very friendly and most helpful hosts. Highly recommend the place and would definitely stay there during future visits. Especially enjoyed having the internet in the room free of charge! (The 10:30 PM curfew was a bit early. Would have preferred 11:00 or midnight.)
