The residence was located right in the heart of Florence - couldnt have been better. There is a small old lift to bring you to the 4th floor - which you often have wait for.
The staff were great, very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was a disappointment - just some packaged biscuits/cereal etc left in your room. We always ate out. Location was great but maybe a bit pricey for lack of good breakfast.

We loved our stay at this hotel. The only drawback is that you must, upon first arrival, be very attentive to the numbers of the signs. We walked past it a couple of times before we found it. The Residenza Giotto is really in the middle of things. There is only one other doorway between it and the Duomo. You can easily walk just about anywhere in Florence from this location without stressing your feet.
The people who work there are informative and helpful and speak excellent English.
The room was smallish, but very well-designed and the price was divine for the posh neighborhood. We did not spend a lot of time hanging around the Residenza because we had so much that we wanted to do in Florence. The breakfast offers an abundant selection of the usual Italian breakfast things. Just around the corner was an exceptional coffee bar and I tended to go there for morning coffee.
I should note that we are the kinds of travelers who really appreciate good rates and who do not need the posh stuff. All of the hotels in this district probably cost at least twice as much. But isn't it divine to be right next door to the Florence Duomo? To be able to walk easily to the Uffizio?
It could get a bit noisy at night but it's the neighborhood---the whole neighborhood was noisy at night. We slept right though it all.
We would certainly return to Residenza Giotto. It is NOT huge or luxurious; the elevator is quite a miniature, indeed. But if you are budget minded, this is a dream location at a great price.

This was generally a great place to stay. Only two things. First, given the price, I really think they could put just a tiny bit more effort into the breakfast. They have a wonderful breakfast room/patio and they don't use it like they should. Putting out a modestly better breakfast (i.e. not prepackaged 'croissants' and 'toast' but the genuine article) would cost more, but it would make things so much better. Second, is it really too much to ask that a hotel like this have one iron and ironing board for use by guests? That was a little surprising that they had not thought about it or thought it important. It's not an expensive acccessory!

The hotel is incredibly convenient to just about everything you would want to see in Florence. The view from my room (#3, I think) was of the Duomo - it looked like you reach out and touch it, it was so close. You'd think noise would be a problem, but I didn't notice any except the bells waking me up in the morning. The room was quiet, clean, air-conditioned (!! - this was really great) and spacious for a European hotel room. I will definitely stay at Residenza Giotto on my next trip to Florence.

i was traveling with my son. the location of the residenza was superb-within a literal stone's throw of the duomo. the staff was molto gentile as our italian friends would say. the terrace was wonderful. the only slightly downside was the lack of good strong air conditioning. i guess that i am just used to our american hotels where you can blast the thing to stay cool. all in all a great visit and i would recommend the residenza to anyone but i would stay here in a somewhat cooler time of year.

Just a 1/2 block from the Duomo that overlooked the terrace and filled the view from our window, we could not have asked for a better location. The building was secure, comfortable and modern. Recommended by RIck Steve's as well the B and B offered a good value for the money. For me the room could have been a touch tidier(the mirror was smudged)but...my only real complaint would be the contraption they call a shower. I have never seen such a thing, metal bars that fold and unfold to create a "shower stall" in the middle of the bathroom. It did not work and the bathroom was flooded and all extra towels used to mop up after each shower. HOpefully they read this and fix the problem. On the other hand, we chose to stay in Florence 2 extra days to take in more the city had to offer. The front Desk staff were ridiculously friendly and helpful in making all the calls necessary to find us another room in the same general area for the same price. It was actually an upgrade to a very expensive B and B (usually nearly twice the price we paid)we could not have afforded otherwise! The customer service was stellar, the best of all our B and Bs. I would stay here again and again.
Thanks so much for a comfortable place to end our day.

We were very happy with the accommodations and the helpful staff. The airline lost our luggage and the staff at Residenza Giotto went out of there way to contact the airline and get updates on what was going on with us getting our luggage. I would highly recommend the Bed and Breakfast to anyone. It is centrally located in downtown Florence and very close to the train station and only a short drive to the airport.

Arriving at this B&B with the Duomo in front of you takes your breath away. Rosella is outstanding; the room is lovely and more than adequate. The terrace, with cocoa or cappucino, small tables, overlooks the Duomo. The location is perfect; central to everything, walking to any place you could want to go.

These are fabulous people. Every single person we met who worked there was informative, helpful, kind, etc. The location could not be better (right next to the Duomo). Breakfast was a bit sparse, and the shower was ungodly small, but everything else was fabulous. I highly recommend this B & B.

This is an excellent place to stay if you want a nice quiet room in the heart of Florence with an breathtaking view to the dome. The public terace is really worth a visit, only the breakfast, served on a tray the day before in your room,is not what I normally expect. But if you take it to the terace the view is worth it.

This b and b is in an excellent location - from the deck, where breakfast is served, you can almost touch the duomo! Excellent shopping and eating is just outside the door. My only complaint was a lack of hot water in the shower.

We had a wonderful stay. The staff was great to deal with, extremely helpful, and spoke English very well. We were in a great area within short walking distance of the Ponte Vecchio, many local attractions, and in a great shopping area. We felt very comfortable and safe in our surroundings. We booked two nights and the staff was very helpful in letting us book an additional night. On Saturday night, we opened the window and listened to a saxaphonist on the corner. We loved it!!!

A lovely pension in the heart of Florence. Rooms have great character and were very clean. It suited us perfectly. There is a breakfast tray in the room with sachets and a kettle - all nice stuff, but you'll have to go to a bar for your cappuccino.

R Giotto is best value for money and is perhaps the most spacious in my entire stay throughout Italy. For one, it is just next to the Duomo and less than 5 mins to most attractions like the Old Palace, etc. Though breakfast is not the best, the room is comfortable even for 3 pax but the best thing is still its convenience. Definitely better than most other hotels in the vicinity where value for money is concerned.

Having pre packed breakfast in the room is not very nice and there is no place to have it expect the bed (not easy with children) or, in summer bring it on the very nice terrace made available. All the rest was really great and I would advice this place to anyone.

The location is great, however the poor quality of the pre-packed breakfast is a real turn off. Ask for a price without breakfast and find a place nearby to have a real coffee and croissant.
The lady at the front desk is not as friendly and welcoming as her male partner. Still, the main benefit of this place is location...location...location.

Can't beat the location - literally next to the Duomo in the center of Florence - and easy access to all the sites, restaurants, etc. The staff was very helpful with suggestions and extremely accomodating for our group (6 girls, coming and going.) However, the drawback: this B&B is located on the 4th (or 5th) floor and unless you can fit everyone and all your luggage in the tiny elevator, you've got quite a flight of stairs to climb. We didn't mind (exercise) but if you are older, you might want to think about it.
Also, the breakfast is just a tray with wrapped crackers and goodies, room temp milk and juice... jam. Not fresh. But, overall, I would still highly recommend and would stay there again. Also, very private and safe.

Surely one of the best places to stay in Florence. More like an apartment with room service. Beautiful large room (number 6) with a view to die for. Breakfast is prepacked the day before, so limited in quality, but there are plenty of places to get a coffee and croissant right on the doorstep. The north facing roof terrace is a fabulous refuge from the heat and crowds of midday. We enjoyed bread and olive oil with wine every day, bought from the nearby Mercato Centrale. The bells from Giotto's tower are the best wake-up call you can imagine. They start at 7.00am - just right to get to the sights before the crowds!

This Residenza Giotto is a real find..right in the very heart of the Centro Storico. The staff was very helpful at all times. This is a wonderful intimate set of rooms. We would stay there again and have recommended it to friends.
The terrace off the TV/kitchen salon is magnificent, with a fabulous view of the Campanile of the Duomo. (However, the bells ring every morning at 7:45, so you won't need an alarm clock!) We had a nightcap each evening on the terrace; couldn't think of a more delightful end to the day.
The only negative I would mention would be that for a B&B, the breakfast was a little disappointing as it consisted of a tray in your room, with a hot water heater for instant coffee and assorted crackers & American cereal (!)..we passed on this and ate across the street at Scudieri for less than 2.00 euros each day instead. However, the staff was very understanding and offered to make us fresh coffee in the kitchen.
The elevator broke down on our last day and we had to climb 4 flights of stairs and carry our luggage down with the help of the cleaning man. Admittedly, the elevator was a building wide problem and could not be helped by the staff at the Residenza.
All things considered however, a great place to stay.
