Self Catering Apartment Grand Canal - Venice

An excellent place to stay. Central location, but off the beaten track so avoiding the crowds. The appartment is right next to a vaporetto stop and also within easy walking distance of other areas. A quiet bar, restaurant(s), general store and gelateria are closely located. The appartment is spacious and bright with a well equipped kitchen. Views from front room are stunning. Only complaint was lack of hot water (only enough for one shower) and dirty bath mats (yuk).

I was very stsaisfied with the unit itself...but disappointed with the service provided and the amemnties provided. Specifically, when we checked in we were greeted politely and given a tour of the apartment. We were informed that if there was power outage in our unit that were to reset the circuit breakers downstairs(shown to us by the representitve) to restore power. We understood and were fine with the requirement. At 8:00 PM that evening, the power did indeed go out to our unit only. However, resetting of the corcuit breakers shown to us by the representitive DID NOT restore power. Repeated calls the the emergency contact number went unansewered all evening. Therefore, we we left without any power to the bedrooms, bathrooms, and air coditioning. It was a miserable night. MY wife and children were quite upset..I could do nothing to fix the problem. The next morning, I called again, and the contact came over at about 11:00 AM. It was then we that we were informed that there was an addtional circuit breaker located in the apartment behind a locked (we had no key for) storage closet. She brought out the key, unlocked the door, and I reset the breaker. She left the key and went on her way. A subsequent blackout happended again...but it was not a problem as we now had the key and simply reset the breaker. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN! I had my wife and 3 kids with me. I did not mind the price paid for the unit...but I SHOULD HAVE HAD AN IMMEDIATE REPONSE from the emergency number. IT WAS A TERRIBLE FIRST NIGHT...and I believe WE should be compenstated (credited back for one nights stay. The other things are: 1) Th hot water comes and goes...the shower is warm for moment..then cold for moment...we could live with that but it should be fixed. 2) There is no sofa table or any type of tables adjacent to the sofa and redaing lamps. We had to use the dining room chairs for end tables and book tables. 3) The rules say you wash all the dishes before leaving.
