Apartment was spacious. There was a big bowl of fruit provided for us as well as bresh bread rolls and milk. A really nice touch. The Colosseum was just down the end of the street and it was an easy walk into Rome centre from the apartment. My only complaint is that the apartment credit card machine wouldn't accept my Visa card - had to pay up front. After dragging cases from train station to apartment, had to go out to a cash machine to withdraw cash, only to find daily limit. Had to draw out money over several days to pay. Sergio kindly arranged transport to airport at end of stay.

We needed 2 separate bedrooms with our acc. so spoke to Martina... and we were transferred to their other property Elena al Colosseo.
So this review is for Elena ...
Excellent for Family.
Excellent location.
Elena the lady who runs the property was very helpful and organised transport to and from airport.

Price was expensive but comparable and worth it for excellent proximity to sites and local shops. Washing machine didn't work so appreciated offer of payment for laundromat. (Need to have correct address though!)Whilst apartment small for five (4 adult size)was very manageable for 3 days when you are out and about. Welcome and checkout timing with staff excellent. Appreciated local booking of transfer from airport to apartment.

My elderly mother has always wanted to visit Italy but has been unable to, so my daughter and I offered to take her. As requested I sent SMS messages to the number quoted on your reciept on the morning of our arrival to say we would be arriving around midday (with no reply). When we arrived at Martina al Colosseo I rang the number and was told that our accomodation had fallen through. We waited in the heat for over an hour while the man found alternate accommodation in another part of Rome. The man assured me 'many'emails had been sent however when I returned to Australia only one had been sent 6 dys previously (when we were already in Italy). The new accommodation was disappointing as I was travelling with my elderly mother who is not mobile and I picked Martina al Colosseo because it was close to the sites she wanted to see. Once inside, the new accommodation was even more disappointing. The land lady insisted we pay for 2 nights upfront without even seeing the rooms. As my mother could walk no further I was obliged to pay for 1 night. The landlady was rude to me when I would only pay for one not 2 nights. When we finally were allowed into our room we found it cramped and dirty. It had no kitchen facilities and my daughter and I were forced to sleep together in a 'pull-out'sofa bed. It was certainly not comparable to the features given for Martina al Colloseo. My daughter and I then set off to find alternative accomodation. Luckily we found a very nice clean hotel near Via Nationale at the same price of the previous horrible place.
I have not had trouble using Venere before but will think twice next time.

Fantastic location. We arranged through Martina al Colosseo the airport shuttle and we were fortunate to be able to access the property immediately despite our early morning arrival. The property is very close to the Metro but might be difficult to find on your own because it is not sign posted as it is only one unit in a block. Very quiet at night and the room can be made very dark with the shutters. Whilst there is a school adjacent the noise from there doesn't start until after 8am. The only negative was that the washing machine does not work and the washing did not dry very well in the apartment but we did find a laundromat nearby.

The apartment was lovely and in a very convenient location. We had no problem getting the keys. However, during the few moments in which we were bringing our bags into the hotel, the window on our rental car was smashed and our portable GPS stolen (in the middle of the afternoon).

Wonderful welcome, and the apartment and area were secure, quiet, and very pleasant. The only complaint is that the kitchen is not well equipped for cooking beyond preakfast or box lunches; more, better pots and pans are needed. Otherwise the apartment was very comfortable and the neighbourhood was convenient, attractive and interesting.

We were very impressed with the apartment. The location could not have been better, on a quiet street, virtually 2 minutes walk from the colloseum and metro station. The apartment was fairly basic, understandably so as it was very reasonably priced. It was very well stocked, cool, quiet and very clean. The people at the apartment were reliable and helpful. I would highly recommend the Martina al Colloseo and hope to stay there again.

Apartment building was around the corner from the Metro. We were send very good email information, met at the door, given keys and instructions (very buisness-like). We paid for 2-nights @ 210 EU in June which is less expensive than 2 hotel rooms. Large master room, outer room had queen bed and sofa. Our 12 and 14 year old kids had plenty of room. The location was great as we could walk to the ruins, Trevi fountain. Easy Metro ride to the Vatican. We made the reservations based on other Venere.com comments and they were very accurate.

Martina al Colosseo was excellently located. I would empahsize in any information it’s very close proximity to the Colosseum Metro station. The kitchen was nicely appointed although it was explained to us that the oven didn‘t seem to be working. (we didn‘t have need of it) The owner kindly provided some fresh fruit, milk, butter, bread and coffee prior to our arrival.
It would have been a nice to have a good tourist map on sight, some local café recommendations (especially since the location is very touristy, so the nearby eating establishments seem over the top and inauthenic), maybe any tips about visiting the immediate areas sights. None of these things are necessary, but would have been nice.
We were a family of 4, 2 adults, 2 teen daughters. The apartment size was workable for the two nights we were there. Might have been a bit tight for much longer stay. It does back up to a school and the classes are remarkably noisy. That was mostly noticeable in the morning, but more an observation, not a huge issue. We would definitely chose Martina al Colosseo on a return visit to Rome.

Booked in advance excellent contact from Carlo, the day before departure was e mailed to say that due to work on the apartment above the one we rented there had been a flood and we were to be upgraded.
A disappointment at first but end result was excellent.
The lady who met us was friendly and helpful up dating us on what to see and what was where.
Great holiday and we would definitley return and book through this web site.
My advice is to get a good map before you go and plan what you need to see.

We actually ended up at Elena al Colosseo because Carlo made a great trade for us to that larger apartment. Found a great little local restaurant around the corner as per Carlo's suggestion. It was terribly convenient to buses and Metro and having an apartment was super. With 3 children we did need the laundry. Everything was nice and we were well seen to. Going this route is definitely the way with a family because at the end of a long day everyone had some space to chill; we weren't crammed in a hotel room. Thanks to Carlo for all his attentions!

We found the apartment to be as per advertised, but perhaps a little difficult to find.We were welcomed by Sergio & found a big bowl of fruit & various other food & related items in the fridge & cupboards . A nice thought & it really helped us to settle in.We are a family of three people (ie 2 adults & one 12 yo child) & found it to be a reasonably good size....but i wouldn't suggest more than 3 people being there for any length of time.Would suggest an internet connection be connected but otherwise all the essentials are in the apartment. Its an interesting area with good shopping facilities for all the basic items. Some good eating houses off main road. Location is ideal but for novice travellers it might be a little daunting..at least initially.Dont be put off by the apartments surroundings..its how Rome after all!We were there just before christmas so like most peak periods its quite busy around the general area & prices reflected that!
Overall Good value for money.

Our group of 3 sisters and 2 nieces had a terrific "girls weekend" stay. The place suited our purposes well. December was a quiet, cool time - no street or school noise. The kitchen was quite reasonable for fixing simple meals. I think it works best for families, not 2 couples. Elevator a plus for luggage day.

Our family of five truly enjoyed the visit to Rome and our stay at Apartment Martina Colosseo. The Colosseum is visible from the front door of the building proving the location is perfect and close to the ancient Roman sites. There is a Metro stop only 2 minutes walking distance from the apartment making public transportation very easy to use a city map was provided at the apartment.
We appreciated the space the apartment provided for our 3 teenage children. We were pleasantly surprised with the supplies provided in the kitchen - food, appliances and dishes.
The owners and manager were very welcoming and accomodating.
The apartment was very clean and updated matching the pictures provided on the internet.
We would definitely stay there again and will recommend it to others.

This was a very pleasant apartment and I was pleased to find that there was a lift to the 5th floor. We were given a key ring with about 6 keys on it. We felt very secure but the need for so many locks (outer door, gate, inner gate, door to our landing, 2 keys to our door) was rather intimidating.
There was a school in the same building (or right next to it) so it got rather noisy around 7:30-8:30am; not a problem for my party but late sleepers beware!
Our contacts - Carlo (email correspondent) and Sergio (met us at the apt) were friendly, attentive and eager to please.
The only hitch in our stay was the difficulty in finding the path up from the Colosseo side (Fiori Imperiale)to the apartment. The path is inconspicuous from the street and we walked right past it on two separate occasions - early evening both times. The approach from the Via Cavour side was much easier but out of the way if you are near the Colosseo.
All in all, this was an excellent apartment and I would recommend it to visitors in Rome.

Overall we had a great time, the apartment was excellent. It really is just across the street from the Colosseum and is surrounded by nice bars and restaurants. The well stocked fridge and fruit bowl was a pleasant surprise. The only drawback was the fact that it is adjacent to a school and can be noisy in the mornings due to the classroom windows being opened because of the heat.

Excellent location just blocks from the ancient ruins. Central location made moving from site to site very easy. Extremely close to the metro station. Rooms were small, but clean and easily accommodated our group of 5. Sergio was wonderful to work with, made sure we had both his cell and home phone numbers for questions and even provided water, baked goods and fruit to the apartment. Security was very good as well. Allowed us to stow our luggage until the room was complete so we could begin exploring the area as soon as we arrived. Would stay here again.

Fantastic location in an older apartment building but felt very much a part of the area. There was a school next door which had music classes at around 9.00 which was fine as we were getting ready to head out. If you wanted to be in the apartment for large parts of the day the noise may be distracting. We were a family of four - 2 adults and 2 teenagers and it was a tight fit. 2 double beds and one daybed but the location was great - walking out of the door to see the Colosseum just at the end of the lane. Very close to the Metro station and good little eating places in close proximity. Very tidy and clean but don't expect it to be ultra-modern - but that is part of the charm. People looking after the apartment were very helpful especially with airport transfers. Would definitely go there again.

The apartment was clean & modern and close to the colusseum/forum and right above Collosseo Subway station.
There was a generous selection of food items in the apartment on our arrival which was a nice surprise. (Bread rolls, crispbread, jams, milk fruit, butter, some eggs, coffee & tea, drip-filter & stove-top espresso coffee makers)
If you are a family of 5 with teenage kids you might find it a bit small, but being in Rome you should only be there to sleep anyway. The bedding is double bed in the master bedroom, double bed in the lounge, and the couch in the lounge sleeps 1.

We liked the location which is smack in front of the colosseum. Its superb location saves us a lot of time in travelling. There is also a shop within 5 mins walk which has internet access for e1.00 per hour. There is also a bar nearby which sells great paninis and sandwiches at a very good price.
On our first day, we noted that the leg of the bed frame was wobbly. It was fixed by the end of the day.
Security was also good because we had to go through 2 gates which is automatically locked.

This was not what we had been promised online. It was not the same place as described to us. We had a party of 5; 3 adults, 2 children. There were not enough beds to begin with, let alone the promise of 3 bedrooms. There were three rooms but only one bedroom.
We were also told that we could not use the air conditioner. It was stifling hot in Rome at the time... so, we ignored the rule.
There were not enough towels and pillows but, they did provide them upon request. The owners were very polite but, we were quite disappointed never-the-less.
Building is charming and well renovated. We would probably have a different review had there been enough beds/bedrooms; or we were travelling with less people.

we received a good briefing on the property, and the address of the nearest tourist office for tourism info. Breakfast/coffee/fruit etc was supplied. There were adequate utensils/crockery in the kitchen. Credit card facility did not work, so full cash payment was required The property was not suitable for 4 adults
